The City of Gatesville will help legendary NFL/AFL quarterback and Baylor Coach Cotton Davidson celebrate the publication of his memoir by hosting a book signing at the Coryell Museum and Historical Center from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27. Davidson and Wayland Corgill, Olney High School graduate Class of 1956, are co-authors.
On November 18, the Mighty Olney Cubs met up with the Albany Lions to decide which team would be Area Champions. The game was played out at Newton Field in Graham.
Nov. 11, the Mighty Cubs traveled to Sweetwater, to face off against the Ralls Jackrabbits for the Bi-District Championship. The Cubs did not face the Jackrabbits alone as a great many from the community of Olney made the two and half-hour drive to Sweetwater. The POOHS and rowdy students Olney ISD also made the trip and would be considered the 12th player on the field.
PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE. A virtue is behavior showing high moral standards. Patience is a quality that is definitely in short supply and isn’t necessarily taught anymore by parents or mentors. I don’t point this out without being a sufferer of impatience myself, but we are living in “gotta have what I want right now” times and nothing short of complete internet outage looks to change that. By next year who knows about that little bit of prophecy. We order things we want online, and we are given quick fix solutions to problems that developed over time and pretend like everything should just happen overnight. It’s a sad situation really and I would think Envy has a role in this.
