The Olney Cubs continue to grow stronger and more confident with the new offensive and defensive systems put in place by new Head Coach Chris Tobola.
The Olney Lady Cubs Volleyball team had a recent setback in their their district games.
In the sixth game of the football season on Friday, Oct. 4, Olney played in Crosbyton and lost by a score of 228. The team was very motivated after the win against the Chico Dragons the previous Friday.
The Pride of Olney High School Marching Band played Oct. 7 in the Wichita Falls ISD Marching Band Festival. Although it was not competitive, the band received positive feedback from the judges present. Not only that, but the drum majors, senior Lily Thames and junior Sawyer Edgington, have nothing but high hopes for the band. “I thought the show has improved a lot in the past few weeks, and the festival showed how much the marching has gotten better,” Edgington said. “The show overall still needs some work, but we are much closer to a chance of advancing to Area.” With regional competition in two weeks, the band still has improvements to make; however the drum majors have no doubt that they can wipe away those imperfections and further advance to the Area competition.
The Newcastle Junior Varsity and Varsity Ladycats hosted the Aspermont Lady Hornets for a tune-up game before district play begins. Both JV and Varsity played with heart. The Ladycats took home the win against the Lady Hornets in a back-and-forth battle.
