On Nov. 24, the Lady Cubs were given a send-off by Olney ISD. The City of Olney was ready to send the ladies off with a bang by providing Olney Volunteer Fire Department and EMS vehicles for escort duty.
On Nov. 5, the Mighty Olney Cubs took the field for the last game of the regular season. The Cubs fought hard against the Nacona Indians to decide which team would end the season in third place and end the season in fourth place.
My co-host on Lawdog Sports, Cory Hogue, accuses me of having “get off my lawn moments,” which is referencing the Clint Eastwood movie “Grand Torino,” in which he points a rifle at some ruffians and utters the phrase in his famous gravelly tone.
On Oct. 29, the Olney Cubs traveled to Archer City to knock helmets with the Wildcats. The outcome was to help determine the playoff standings for postseason play. The Cubs fought hard with plenty of determination but failed to secure the win, losing to the Wildcats 28-49.
