Members of the Junior Altruistic Club held their yearend meeting in the home of Lyndsey Miller on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. President Minnie Wood conducted the business meeting and Parliamentarian Barbara Calvin installed officers for the 2026-2027 club year.
The American Legion Post 414 in Olney held a raffle Saturday, May 8, at ACE Hardware to raise funds to support the organization’s veterans and community programs.
The OHS Biology Club spent their Saturday out on the Brazos River helping clean it up, and overall it went really well. The cleanup was part of the Brazos Cleanup Project’s first ever paddle cleanup day, where students got on the river in kayaks and canoes to pick up trash. The group paddled about 10 miles, stopping along the way to grab anything they saw. It wasn’t super easy work, but everyone worked together and made it a really successful day.
One of the local television news stations invited victims to send in “Our Story” about the tornado in Wichita Falls in 1979. Rather than talk to them about what we went through, I thought I’d write it for this paper.
The student actors and actresses at Newcastle High School chose “Nellie” as their One Act Play for competition this year.
