The Olney Economic Development Corporation approved a new lease agreement with Young County on July 8 that reflects the expansion of county offices into the former Olney Police Department building while opening additional space in the historic courthouse annex for future redevelopment.
Olney athletes put in the work during summer workouts While many students are enjoying a slower pace this summer, dozens of Olney Cubs and Lady Cubs have been spending their mornings on the practice field and in the weight room, preparing for what they hope will be a successful 2026-27 athletic season.
Storyteller Nick Waters returned to the Olney Community Library and Arts Center with a new tale, complete with a cast of vivid and unexpected characters. For a few moments, Mr. Waters had his audience convinced he was simply a milkman.
Laughter, music, and the message of God’s love filled the halls of First Baptist Church of Olney during this year’s Illumination Station Vacation Bible School, where record attendance brought hundreds of children, volunteers, and families together for a week of faith and fun.
Long-time readers will know that I have explained that the primary cause of inflation is government spending. A check from the government will never bounce. This is true whether it is a stimulus check, Social Security check, or a subsidy check. The reason that my holographic Charizard card is so valuable is that there are very few of them. However, if all of a sudden they started making more of these, they would soon be worthless. The same is true of money. And if you have ever mentioned high prices, you will hear me blame the Federal Reserve, which controls the monetary policy of the country. However, please do not get me started on that rabbit trail, or we will be here all day.
