On Wednesday, Nov. 19, the Olney Junior High One Act Play had its district competition in Archer City. The junior high OAP performance of “One Stoplight Town” won the district championship for the second year in a row.
For junior high and elementary school students, a half day is approaching after Thanksgiving break. On Thursday, Dec. 4, middle and elementary school students will be dismissed after lunch. The elementary and junior high will be hosting UIL contests on Dec. 5.
The Olney City Council asked Olney Economic Development Corporation executive director Tom Parker to return with more information about a proposed second tax increment reinvestment zone—TIRZ 2—at its Nov. 22 meeting, continuing a two-year debate over how broadly the zone should stretch and which properties should fall within its boundaries.
