Cubs Set Sights on Playoff Run
With fall just around the corner, the football season has taken off. Before their first game in Quanah, the Olney Cubs competed in scrimmages against Abilene TLCA and Electra. Their excitement carried on into Quanah, but only for the first half. Unfortunately, that game was a loss with a final score of 35-12.
“Football has hit the ground running, and we are currently getting ready for our second game of the season,” said Olney ISD Athletic Director and Head Coach Dustin Altmiller. “Our expectations for the season are to battle each week and work our way into the playoffs!”
The Olney Cubs are ready to face what is to come this season. This time around, however, will be different because the district champion, Muenster, is in the district.
“Every game is going to be a battle, week in and week out. It’s an honor and a privilege to have Muenster in our district. Is it going to be a tough, hard-fought football game? Absolutely,” said Altmiller. “How many times do you get to go up against a defending state champion? Very rarely. This is an opportunity for us as a team to bow up to a challenge and not back away from it. Our district will be tough competition each game, but we are looking forward to the challenge and working toward a playoff spot!”
