Cubs Maul the Tigers in District Battle
The Olney Cubs Varsity Football team hosted the Anson Tigers for a district game on Oct. 13. The Cubs continued with a controlled aggression on offense and the swarm mentality of the defense to overtake the Tigers 3114. This game was a must win for play-off potential and the Cubs stepped up and delivered. Offensively, the Cub rushed for 333-yards and receptions totaled 9-yards. The Cubs kept penalties down to just four for 35-yards and one turnover, much improved over the past two games. Anson took the lead early with a 2-yard run in and a good PAT for 7. The Cubs pushed down the field, eating away at the clock, and finished the drive with a 3-yard punch in by QB Gatlin Guy for 6 and a good PAT by Jacob Hernandez, tying the score 7-7 moving into the second quarter.
