Lady Cubs Overwhelm the Hirschi Lady Huskies
On March 1, the Olney High School [OHS] Lady Cub Varsity Softball Team hosted the Hirschi Lady Huskies for a season opening game. The Lady Cubs were fired up and ready to take it to the Lady Huskies. With heart, grit and determination, the Lady Cubs secured the win by a score of 17-2. The following Lady Cubs scored during the match up: #12 Mahler-1 run, #20 Scrogum-2 runs, #7 Guerra-3 runs, #26 Alvarez-2 runs, #4 Hagle-3 runs, #21 Hinson-1 run, #14 Torres-2 runs, #1 Green-2 runs and #32 Roach-1 run. Lady Cubs pitcher #5 Enriquez pitched a great game, only allowing two runs in. Fight on Lady Cubs!
Olney Junior High hosted a TMSCA qualifying meet
Olney Junior High hosted a TMSCA qualifying meet on February 26, 2022. Olney Junior High won sweepstakes with a score of 3066.3. Paradise trailed with 2767.3, Seymour with 2452.29, City View with 2313.44, and Quanah MS with 2100.43.
Lady Cubs Basketball Honors
The Lady Cub Basket Ball season may be over but some Lady Cubs received District Honors. Lady Cub Head Basketball Coach, Kourtney Holyfield was proud of all her Lady Cubs and was happy to share the news. Holyfield explained how the honors where broken down, “They would be All-District Honors. The specific honor would be first team, second team, honorable mention, and then Academic All - District! Academic means they had to have a 90 or above in all classes for the third and fourth six weeks. The following are the Lady Cubs who were recognized: 1st Team - Kami Bednarz, 2nd Team - Sarah Stroud and Abby Guerra, Honorable Mention - Keirah Wilk and Abi Ramirez.
