Kortney Kulhanek hired as AgriLife county agent

Kortney Kulhanek of Olney is the new county agent in Throckmorton County, hired by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service as one of 19 new county agents across the state. Ms. Kulkanek specializes in family and community health and says she is eager to help the youth of Throckmorton County acquire the same skills that she learned through 4-H and FFA and by volunteering in ag-related youth programs.

“I am very passionate about the ag industry and find it important to help not only the youth but everyone, find their purpose in this industry,” Ms. Kulhanek said. “The agriculture industry has helped shape me into who I am today, and I hope it can do the same for others.”

Ms. Kulhanek earned her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary agriculture with a teacher’s certification at Texas Tech University, according to Texas A&M AgriLife. She spent the past three years traveling with nationally known livestock show photography companies, as well as doing her own photography work, the agency said. She also managed Seed-Tex Grain Elevator and made sure to be home for the wheat harvest, the agency said.

AgriLife Extension employs county agents, divided by districts, to serve every Texas county. These county agents are the agency’s connection with the people in communities. They are instrumental in providing hands-on education and programming based on scientific research.
