POOHS performs at OHS spring concert

Pride of Olney High School [POOHS] dazzled the community of Olney with an end-of-year spring concert. Rodney Bennet, director of bands for the Olney Independent School District; Marilyn Bennet, associate director, Michael Shelton, assistant director and the POOHS, put on a masterful end-of-year spring concert to a packed house May 10. Drum Major-Conductor Natalie DelVillar opened the show, leading with: “Chorale-Salvation is Created.” Bennet took over conducting to lead renditions of “The Big Cage,” “Foundry,” “Moscow 1941” and “The Light Eternal.” The prestigious honor of Texas Music Scholar was earned by oboe players Jennifer Martinez and Lily Thames. The Texas Music Scholar Award designates students in high school music programs who exemplify attributes of meritorious performance in scholarship, musicianship and citizenship.

Lady Cubs End the Season with Blow Out Against Perrin-Whitt

On April 26, the OHS Lady Cubs took the field for the last time, and for some Lady Cubs, it would be the last time dressing out for a Lady Cub softball game. It was somewhat bittersweet for parents and players alike, sad to see the ending to the camaraderie of a group of young ladies who grew close over a season of softball. For parents, it meant the little girls were not so little anymore and were about to graduate high school or move on to another year.

The Cubs game one of the district double headers was led by #1 Lisle pitching and #21 Jacoba took the reins pitching for game two.
