My name is (Coach) James King and this is my first year back in Newcastle coaching the boys’ basketball program. I served my first stint coaching boys and girls here from 2013-2018. Thirty-five OHS students traveled to Holliday on Saturday, February 11, 2023, to compete at the Holliday UIL Invitational B meet. Olney finished 2nd with a total of 244 points. This invitational was open to all conferences (1A - 6A) so the competition was greater than District. Points for the other competing schools: Holliday 382, Rider 218, Archer City 171, Childress 54, Henrietta 97, Newcastle 54, City View 57, Mineral Wells 41, Bellevue 21, Graford 15, Hirschi 15, Windthorst 4. Olney would have placed 1st if competition was limited to District teams. District competition will be next on March 24 & 27. Great day to be a Cub!
