The Olney Cubs Varsity football team secured a playoff spot with their win over the Colorado City Wolves during Senior Night on Oct. 28. The Cubs dominated the Wolves with a 59-0 shutout.

The Cubs offense was explosive, rushing for 522 yards, 17 yards in receptions and a 67 percent fourth-down conversion. The Cubs had five penalties for 17-yards lost. Gio Rockmore bent the Wolves’ defense to his will with the help of the Cubs’ aggressive offensive line. Rockmore scored five touchdowns with 381 yards rushing. Cubs Quarterback Gatlin Guy scored one touchdown with 89 yards rushing. Colin Mason scored a touchdown with 50 yards rushing and a touchdown on a 19 yard reception. Jacob Hernandez, kicker for the Cubs, has proven to be very reliable with 7 extra points and one 28 yard field goal. Hats off to a spectacular performance by the Cubs offense.

The Cubs defense completely dominated the Wolves offense, shutting out the Wolves with their swarm mentality. For almost every tackle, there would be 2-3 or more defensive Cubs in on the tackle. The Cubs defense continues to smother opponents with their oppressive play style. There were many standouts for the Cub defense; two were Donny Welsh with one sack, one tackle for loss, three tackles and four assists, and Noah Enriquez with one sack, one tackle for loss, one tackle and three assists. The Cubs defense held the Wolves to just 128 total yards.

Fight on Cubs!!!
