Cubs Battle the Wildcats in District Play

On February 8, the Olney Cubs travelled to Archer City to take on the Wildcats during district play. The Cubs fought hard against their northern rivals but failed to secure the win, losing Cubs 31-Wildcats 60. The following are highlights from the match up, #0 Guy sank a floater and one from the outside for 5 points, #1 Hernandez scored 3 points with a shot from the outside, #2 Knight was good to go with one free throw and 2 points driving to the basket, #4 Scrogum continued his aerial assault scoring 9 points from the outside, #11 Castillo helped keep the Cubs in the fight scoring 4 points, #12 Turner drove to the basket scoring 4 points for the night, #23 Enriquez pushed past defenders and scored 2 points and #24 Kulhanek scored a free throw.

Lady Cubs fall to the Lady Panthers

On Feb. 1, the Lady Cubs hosted the Seymour Lady Panthers. The Lady Cubs fought with heart but fell to the Lady Panthers 20-50. The following are highlights from the game. Lady Cubs #3 Ramirez sank a bucket for 2, #4 Wilk 4-points that included two free throws, #10 Hinson scored 2 points with a floater, #11 Paul hit two from the outside for 6 points, #15 Guerra drove through defenders for 2-points and #22 Bednarz sank two baskets for 4-points.

Cubs fight hard against rival Panthers

On Feb. 1, the Cubs hosted rival, the Seymour Panthers. The Cubs’ defense played hard and kept the game close during first-period play. However, the Panthers came out in the second half and applied the gas to run away with the game. Cubs 30-Panthers 57. The following are highlights from the match-up. Cubs #2 Knight was fired up, scoring 13 points, which included one bucket from outside the line, #4 Scrogum had all net for two 3-pointers and a floater, totaling 8-points, #12 Turner drove to the basket for 2, #23 Enriquez pushed through Panther defenders for two and #24 Kulhanek sank two and had one free throw for 5-points.
