Nov. 4, the Olney Lady Cubs took to the home court hosting Throckmorton in a pre-season basketball game. This game was to help them prepare them for the season opener, Friday Nov. 6, against the Munday Moguls.
The Newcastle Bobcats have been back in action the past few weeks, playing a non-district game against May on Oct. 2.
The Olney Cubs defeated Electra for the first time in 21 years. But not only did they defeat them, they did it in grand style by a whopping score of 58-7. This was also the largest margin of victory for the Cubs in a district game in many decades.
President Jake Bailey called the regular meeting of the Olney Independent School District’s Board of Trustees to order at 6:00 p.m. The meeting has been duly called, and a notice of this meeting has been posted in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code Chapter 551, and that a quorum of board members was present.
Randy West with Atmos Energy presented a check to Lori Cox, director of Olney Community Library and Arts Center (OCLAC) for their renovation for a project in the amount of $5,000. COVID-19 has caused a few set-backs for the project and the library continues to raise the money needed for this important and much needed improvement to the library.
