The Olney Area Retired School Personnel met last week at the Olney Senior Cub Center to learn about a November ballot measure that, if approved by voters, will increase their pension benefits for the first time in two decades.
The Olney City Council settled on a higher proposed city property tax rate for fiscal 2024 to close a gap in the City’s fiscal year 2024 budget caused by higher energy costs, budget restructuring, and ongoing community improvements.
A 20-year-old Olney man was killed and a 20-year-old Olney woman was injured in an early morning auto accident on State Highway 16, the Texas Department of Public Safety said in a statement. The two-vehicle crash occurred on Sept. 1 at 6:08 a.m. about 9.5 miles south of Loving, the statement said.
The Olney Economic Development Corporation adopted new bylaws that clear the way for Olney Mayor Pro Tem Tom Parker to serve as EDC executive director.
