While North Texas Democrats travel to Chicago this weekend for the Democratic National Convention, former Texas Democratic Party Chairman Boyd Richie will be watching from his home in Wichita Falls, savoring the excitement surrounding the ticket of Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
Olney area individuals, families, organizations, and churches will have an opportunity this fall to be part of a project that helps needy children all over the world. Operation Christmas Child collects shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items and delivers them to children in impoverished countries. Its mission is to show God’s love in a tangible way by providing fun and useful gifts and Bible teaching to kids and their families.
The Olney Economic Development Corporation and Grossman Design/Build will hold a community meeting to discuss the Facade Program at 6 p.m. on Aug. 20 at the Fort Belknap Electric Coop meeting room at 1302 W. Main St.
