OISD Welcomes Teachers, Staff, New Leaders Back for 2025-26 School Year

The halls of Olney Independent School District are buzzing once again as teachers and staff return to campus to prepare for the start of the new school year on Aug. 13. Classrooms are being decorated, lesson plans finalized, and registration underway as the district welcomes students back for what promises to be an exciting year of growth and change.

County Issues Burn Ban

The Young County Commissioners Court has issued a burn ban for all unincorporated areas of the county, effective for 90 days from July 28 through October 25, due to conditions that significantly increase the risk of wildfires. The ban prohibits all outdoor burning and makes violations a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500.
