County Commissioners lowered the property tax rate and adopted a $19 million budget for fiscal year 2024-2025, squeezing in a 5 percent costof- living raise for county employees, a new fire truck, and a bump in mental health services spending.
The Olney Independent School District Board of Trustees learned that $8.35 million in general obligation bonds it issued on Aug. 26 were snapped up by investors at a lower-than-expected interest rate, thanks to lucky market forces and an “A” rating from the Standard & Poors ratings agency.
The crew behind the “Rural Route Revival” television show returned to Olney last week to film the start of construction on new homes on West Howard Street and West Oak Street.
