Over Yonder RV Park challenges water surcharge
The Texas Association of Campground Owners [TACO] is helping a local RV park owner challenge the City of Olney’s $35 per slip water surcharge, in a move that could deprive the City of much-needed revenue for the stalled water treatment plant.
OPD arrests 3 on drug charges
Olney police clocked three arrests for drug possession in the past two weeks, with two Olney men and a Wichita Falls woman racking up felony charges for carrying methamphetamine and other illegal drugs through town, Police Chief Dan Birbeck said.
Texoma Gives raises funds for local nonprofits
Texoma Gives is a day of online giving for nonprofits and many citizens of Olney chose to give big to those that serve our community. By the numbers, Olney Education Foundation took first place in the extra-small organization category with 33 donors giving $32,920, and Olney Christian Community Center [The Refuge] took first-place honors for the medium organization category with 39 donors giving $153,925.
OHS inducts National Honor Society
Olney High School performed an induction ceremony for incoming members of the National Honor Society [NHS] The students who qualify for the NHS conform to the four pillars of the organization: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character and maintain the national minimum standard for scholarship of a cumulative scholastic average of at least 85%.
