Time-Honored Tradition Continues at Cumberland Presbyterian

The Living Nativity Scene at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church has long been a much-loved tradition in Olney. People come from all over to enjoy and witness the reenactment of the birth of Jesus Christ. It takes an army of volunteers to make this honored tradition a success. The following are the volunteers who braved the chilly night so that the community could enjoy the living nativity scene. Many others not mentioned played supporting roles as well.

The holidays mean gatherings, last-minute shopping trips, and happily upended schedules - and often call for late-night meals that can be prepared in minutes with whatever is in the pantry. This week, Danny adapted a New York Times pasta recipe for holiday-makers rolling home late and hungry on chilly nights. Although Danny and I are both huge fans of anchovies, we knew what a lot of people would say about this Mediterranean staple: NOPE.

All year long, I look forward to those last few moments of Christmas Eve, when our PJ-clad kids are almost to the excitement breaking point. When they were little, they would literally run in circles, singing and laughing. It’s almost like their brains couldn’t handle the truth that Christmas was only a few short sleeping hours away, and their joy was practically breathtaking.
