On April 7, The Olney Hamilton Hospital (OHH) partnered with - and hosted - Carter BloodCare in a blood drive held inside the hospital’s education building. Over 135 patients can now be helped thanks to the blood donated by the 45 donors.
On April 1 all across Texas, law enforcement held a ceremony that only lasted minutes, but had a deep meaning. The ceremony was called “Red and Blue.” Texas Governor Greg Abbott called upon all Texas Law Enforcement Agencies to turn on their lights at exactly 1:00 p.m. on April 1 in honor of Texas Trooper Chad Walker.
The 10th Annual Bookmark Contest for the Olney Elementary School students, concluded during the week of March 29 through April 2, 2021. This coincided with National Library Week at the Olney Community Library.
Dirk Barrington is campaigning to secure his seat on the Olney ISD School Board, which he has held since 2015. While serving as an Olney ISD Board Member, some of the accomplishments that he, along with current board members have achieved include renovation of Olney Junior High and Olney High School, the construction of the Career Tech building, which was completed without raising taxes, and the raises he supported to secure for Olney ISD teachers.
Oscar Munoz and his wife, Dr. Christie Caceres Munoz, invited me to share a meal with their good friend Dr. Chantel Taylor. Sharing a meal with others is the perfect gateway to common ground. While enjoying the chicken Marsala that Oscar prepared, we discovered that we are more alike than we are different. Regardless of our diverse backgrounds and ethnicities, we share the desire to give and grow in Olney.
