New Business Alert Keep it Chill

The community of Olney and passersby driving through Olney now have the perfect way to cool things down during the oppressive heat of summer, Keep it Chill. Keep it Chill (KIC), is a shaved ice business set up on Main Street in Olney, across the street and cattycorner from Allsup’s.

Keep it Chill offers all the shaved ice flavors you might come to expect, but offers unique cool summer treats you may not expect as well. KIC offers delicious bowls made up of fresh and mostly local fruits that can include ice cream, shaved ice, an assortment of refreshing flavors, fresh fruit, popsicles and more, depending on the special of the week.

When asked, Craig Mahler, co-owner of KIC, said, “We were just looking for a summer job for the girls. Everyone could earn some money and we were kind of thinking of something for them to do around here, and we noticed that there really wasn’t any shaved ice places close, other than, you know, surrounding towns within 20 miles of here, and we just thought it would do really well, and it would teach them some life skills, so that’s what we decided to do.”

Keep it Chill is open from Wednesday through Sunday, 4 pm to 8:30 pm. KIC is currently looking into other opportunities to set up KIC once school starts in August. For more info on KIC, please visit their Facebook page at: Keep it Chilled Shaved Ice.
