Ladycats off to strong start
The Olney Lady Cubs got off to a strong district season start, winning eight straight sets against two opponents.On Tuesday, Sept. 24, they won their game against Quanah in three sets: 25-22, 25-17, and 25-18. On Saturday, Sept. 28, they won their first district game against Petrolia in five sets: 25-16, 25-16, 27-25, 25-17, and 16-14.
Olney FFA attends Greenhand Camp
On Sept. 25, first year agricultural students went to the Future Farmers of America Greenhand camp in Abilene at the West Texas Fair Grounds to learn the basics of FFA and other skills. Attendees included Jonathan Anderson, Jackson Jones, Jacob Murgia, Jackson Spurlock-Fenner, Leah Galindo, and Will Caffey “Greenhand camp is put on by our area FFA officers and our state FFA officers,” Haylee Haralson, local FFA Sponsor said. “The students learned leadership skills, things about the FFA such as expectations, FFA official dress, competitions they can be in, and the benefits of joining. They also learned life skills such as the importance of thinking about what you post on social media and how to interact well with others.”
Cubs score first win against Chico Dragons
In the fifth week of the football season, the Olney Cub’s got their first win of the season in Olney against the Chico Dragons. After a 0-3 record from the Cubs, the coaches and the players won with a score of 2821.
OHS Varsity Cubs slay Chico Dragons
In a highly defensive battle, the Olney Cubs Varsity team broke a losing streak and handed the Chico Dragons a loss during a recent match up at Cub Field. The Cubs defeated the Chico Dragons, 28-21.
