Meet the Cubs & Lady Cubs is the Olney Athletic Booster Club’s annual event that ushers in the fall sports season at Olney High School. The annual event featured watermelon and water as attendees enjoyed meeting this year’s OHS fall athletes.
The Newcastle Bobcats hosted the St. Jo Panthers in a preseason tuner. The Bobcats looked very strong against St. Jo, and rightly so, with many veterans returning this season, offering a plethora of experience on the field.
The Olney High School Lady Cubs are in the fifth year of the volleyball program and this season’s team looks to be the strongest yet.
The Olney Cubs travelled to Windthorst to open preseason football with a scrimmage against the Trojans. The Cubs look to have a smaller, faster team except for a few big linemen, which will play in favor of the Cubs’ new offensive scheme. That looks like a run-and-gun-style offense, compared to the Veer offense the Cubs have used over the last seven years.
The Olney Cubs and Newcastle Bobcats football team began the season with a tradition that any football player from Texas knows well: the infamous crucible is known as two-a-days.
