Lady Cubs Start Season With Jacksboro Tourney
The Olney High School Lady Cubs Softball team began their season with the annual Jacksboro softball tournament. The Lady Cubs are under new mana gement this season with 30-year coaching veteran Coach Justin Tate. Coach Tate has nine years of experience coaching varsity softball, including state championship games and many playoff games. The Lady Cubs edged out the Bowie Lady Jackrabbits, 7-6, and fell to the Alvord Lady Bulldogs, 4-5, after a hard-fought game that included a four-run streak in the fourth.
Coach Tate had this to say about the coming season: “This season, I plan to change the narrative as far as what past results have been for the Lady Cubs softball program. Our goal this season will be to meet expectations and just get better. The motto this season will be ‘family.’ It’s about love for fellow teammates. If someone gets a hit, we all get a hit. If one person wins, we all win, and if one person loses, we all lose.”
