I know you are probably thinking, what is he talking about because he is in the media. This may be true, but I almost don’t associate my job with what is considered the media most see on a day-to-day average.

City Council Highlights

Olney City Council held their last meeting of the month on Monday, July 27. The meeting began with approving the minutes from the previous city council meeting, but then quickly moved forward to the new Chief of Police in Olney, Dan Birbeck being sworn in, as well as taking the Oath of Office. The council continued to express their excitement and welcome Mr. Birbeck to Olney. Next up on the agenda was to discuss the completion of the Keep Olney Beautiful project for playground structures and equipment that has just been currently completed. The council, including Mayor Phil Jeske and Mayor Pro-Temp Rue Rogers, both expressed their gratitude for the hardwork they have put into this project. The council continued to say thank you to all involved in this project and is looking forward to seeing the fantastic work and progress that all involved with Keep Olney Beautiful have made in the community. The council discussed the water meter follow up and then had a discussion about potential interviews for the water treatment plan project engineering services. The council will continue to discuss how much money will be involved with this plan, as well as who will be in charge of it. The council discussed searching for engineering services concerning being able to make dam improvements at both Lake Cooper and Lake Olney. The council considered authorizing the Mayor and City Administrator to occupy the services of Edgin, Parkman, Fleming and Fleming for the FY 2019-2020 audit. Next up on the agenda was to consider a resolution to approve the Young County Multi-Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan. The council also approved a proposed contract for police officers during the meeting before moving on to consider authorizing city administrator to enter an inter local agreement with the city of Frisco to buy uniforms. The council heard and accepted the consumer confidence report on the water quality, as well as having a public hearing about it.
