My Nickel’s Worth

With Thanksgiving now behind us, Christmas season has officially begun. Every year, our Christmas traditions always start the weekend after Thanksgiving. We eat leftovers in the days followed by Thanksgiving and then we decorate the tree at my Nana’s house with my cousins. Decorating the tree at my grandparent’s house is a tradition that has been around in our family for as long as I can remember.

So, I have been reading some of the letters to Santa for 2020. Most of the letters are hilarious, while others are caring and simple. I am glad that I no longer need to stress about “asking Santa” to get the coolest toys in high demand. I gave up submitting to the commercialization of Christmas a while ago. Instead of running around trying to remember to get a gift for everyone; Instead of standing in long lines for doorbuster sales, Instead of having a meltdown while deciding what would be the perfect gift--I sit back and watch everyone else stress.

Can you believe that this year is coming to an end? It is hard for me to believe, but time seems to speed up as my age increases. How many times have you said and heard this? I have discovered that I’m not the only one who thinks the time is passing rapidly each year with age. Various psychologists have surmised this concept throughout the years. However, a math professor has documented that time does appear to speed up with age.
