Olney High School: Ari Livingston

Ari Livingston is a Senior at Olney ISD. She will be attending West Texas A&M this fall. Ari discussed her potential major and career plans, stating that she wants to major in communication with a minor in history. Ari has been active in school events over the years-- including FFA, one act play, CX (cross examination) debate, basketball, softball, band, and NHS. Livingston highlighted going to Austin, Texas for state debate as one of your favorite moments from her high school career. She is most proud of all she has accomplished in debate through the years. Stating that “advancing to state octofinals in CX debate, being a three-time state qualifier for three consecutive years,” was an honor, said Livingston. Ari and Carter Hinson competed in the first ever virtual CX debate tournament and won first place with 4 wins and 0 losses. Livingston also won top speaker. When discussing the advice she would give for younger students, Ari said to “enjoy school and not put too much pressure on yourself.” Livingston will be graduating from Olney ISD in May.
Girl Scouts clean up Lake Cooper

Mar. 20, Olney’s Girl Scout Troop 8504 (along with Olney FFA and other volunteers) met at Lake Cooper to get to work on the task of cleaning up the lake.
OHS Band Students Advance to State

Six students from the Pride of Olney High School Band will advance to the Texas State Solo and Ensemble contest in May. Olney High School was host for one of the UIL Region 7 North Zone Solo and Ensemble Contests on Saturday, March 6.

Jeb Carpenter is a senior at Olney ISD. Jeb plans to attend Midwestern State University in the fall. He discussed what he would major in and his potential career plans. “I plan to major in computer science and become a video game designer,” Carpenter said. One of the highlights of his high school career was “the fun we had on the state robotics trip,” he stated. Jeb has been involved in UIL robotics, UIL Science, UIL Computer Science, and National Honor Society. Jeb discussed his favorite high school moments--including spending time with the friends he has made in Olney over the years and all of the work he has put in for graduation this spring. Carpenter wanted to give advice to younger students, stating to “be yourself-you are good enough.” Jeb will graduate in May.
