Starting this school year, the OISD administration is requiring students to put their phones and electronics in Yondr pouches at the beginning of the school day that can only be unlocked by a magnet at the end of the day. The pouches were distributed during the second week of school and were met with mixed reviews.
Olney Elementary has begun its Raize Craze fundraiser, which raises money for needs that the school may have, as well as school supplies and other classroom necessities. This fundraiser also focuses on acts of kindness performed by the students.
Construction begins on new police station
Olney police arrested father and son repeat offenders for assaults on family members that could put them in prison for extended sentences a year after the grandson pled guilty to drug trafficking charges in exchange for a 20-year prison sentence.
The Enterprise recently interviewed the two candidates running to represent Olney in the Texas House of Representatives about issues facing District 68. David Spiller, the Republican incumbent, and Stacey Swann, an author and teacher from Lampasas County, face each other in the Nov. 5 general election.
