PSI breaks ground on new building
PSI industries broke ground on Dec. 13 on a 45,000 square foot building on West Main Street that will house two new presses next year, PSI President Kyle Coates said. The new facility will require as many as 50 new employees to run, Mr Coates said. The company is looking for clerical, customer service, maintenance, engineering, production, and die correction personnel, he said. The company celebrated its expansion with a groundbreaking ceremony with key PSI personnel and city officials. The City and the olney economic development corporation worked with PSI for about a year and a half to smooth the way for the new facility, Mayor Rue Rogers said.
“They are very committed to Olney and want to grow here. I’m excited that they are here and what that means for jobs in our community,” Mayor Rogers said.
Mr Coates said the new building could be completed as early as March. It will house a 6-inch press that will help the company meet demand for its small extrusion products, including LED lighting components and solar clamping components, he said.
The expansion will help PSI serve a growing customer base, he said. “We are expecting just with the economic changes … that we are going to have a growing year,” he said.
George Mioc, the owner of PSI, was on hand to help turn the first spades of dirt. He purchased the former Haggar Slacks factory in 2007 and said he was expecting Olney to grow in the coming decade along with his extrusion plants.
Mr Mioc, who relocated to the Metroplex from California, said he “came to Texas because Texas is the last bastion of freedom.”
