OJH brings UIL District gold home to Olney
After two years of Olney Junior High falling short of first place in district, on Friday, Dec 6, they managed to win first place over Windthorst by 164 points.
“I am super proud of the dedication our students and staff exhibited in preparing for our District UIL meet,” Ed Berngen, OJH principal, said. “The OJH academic team came ready to compete on Friday. They performed extremely well while representing the community of Olney.”
“It has been two years since we won the district championship and look forward to competing next year as we are setting a lofty goal of 675 pts as a school.”
Results by grade are as follows: 7th grade Art - second place team: 2nd Tie - Keela King, Ella Richards, Miles Branum.
Chess - second place team: 5th Clara Symank.
Calculator - first place team: 1st - Zeph Tejada, 2nd - Leigha Hamton, 3rd - Jaxon Bedford.
