Leisure time can seem like a luxury for many adults. While it can seem like there’s little time in the day to do more than tend to responsibilities at work and at home, people may have more time to pursue leisure activities than they realize.

The Young Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will convene a public meeting on Monday, February 3, 2020 at 6:00 PM at the Young County Arena. The purpose of the meeting is to allow for public input into the 2021 conservation programs for Young County. The SWCD and NRCS officials will be there to hear recommendations for implementing the 2021 Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) in Young County. EQIP is the USDA’s cost-share incentive program for assisting farmers and ranchers with the conservation needs on their land. The Local Working Group (LWG) at the meeting will determine recommendations for resource concern priorities as well as ranking criteria. The Local Work Group is made up from representatives of the local Soil and Water Conservation District, Farm Service Agency County Committee, County Extension Service, and other representatives of agricultural groups.

The Jr Altruistic Club met Wednesday in the home of Jan Tyler. We enjoyed delicious refreshments served by Jan and co host Barbara Calvin. Minutes of prior meeting were read and approved and new business was discussed. Next month club members are looking forward to going to the home of Lauri Harmel for a cookie decorating class. Meeting adjourned and a great time was had by all.
