On Nov. 8, the Olney Debate Team traveled to Whitesboro HS to compete in a tournament. Sawyer Edgington, Aubree Englishbee, Briana Lombardo competed in LD. Edgington had a 3-0 record, won first place, and had perfect speaker points. Second place went to Lombardo, also with a 3-0 record. Englishbee came in fourth place.
On Nov. 15, girls basketball played Alvord at home. JV unfortunately lost 9-41. The Varsity team won 34-25 against Alvord.
This year, the OHS One Act Play group will be performing a new play entitled Suite Surrender, written by Michael McKeever. Suite Surrender’s story, which takes place in a 1940s hotel, follows two people in Hollywood who accidentally end up in the same suite. OAP Director Kayla Glover describes the play as a fast-paced farce.
On Wednesday, Nov. 19, the Olney Junior High One Act Play had its district competition in Archer City. The junior high OAP performance of “One Stoplight Town” won the district championship for the second year in a row.
For junior high and elementary school students, a half day is approaching after Thanksgiving break. On Thursday, Dec. 4, middle and elementary school students will be dismissed after lunch. The elementary and junior high will be hosting UIL contests on Dec. 5.
