OJH Schedules Class Trips in May to Reward Students
To celebrate the end of the 2025-2026 school year, Olney Junior High has scheduled trips to reward students for staying on task until the end of the year.
On May 13, the eighth graders will attend a Texas Rangers baseball game. The seventh grade will visit Frontier Texas, an interactive museum in Abilene, on May 8. The sixth graders, on May 12, will go to Wichita Falls to the River Bend Nature Center. The trips for the sixth and seventh grades will both include a “surprise stop.”
The end-of-year trips serve as rewards for students who perform well in school to celebrate the conclusion of the year. Principal Ed Berngen explains that the trips also serve as a motivator for students to do well in school.
“We are using these trips as an incentive to keep students engaged in school as the year winds down in the area of grades, behavior, and attendance,” said Principal Ed Berngen.
In order to attend the trips, students must follow a list of expectations. Students are to pass all of their classes for the final six-week period. They must not have been placed in Homework Hall more than four times this spring, placed in DAEP or ISS, or have had any other corporal punishment. They also must not have had more than two unexcused absences or more than one office referral until the end of the year.
