OJH science, math team brings home top awards

The Olney Junior High School TMSCA [Texas Math and Science Coaches Association] Team represented well on Saturday, March 4 when they attended the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association Regional Meet in Azle. In this Regional meet, students were able to qualify for the state competition by earning a predetermined score, by placing as one of the top three individuals by classification by grade level, or by being on one of the top two teams on any or all of 4 contests: Number Sense, Calculator Applications, Mathematics, and Science.

Lady Cubs Basketball District Honors

This year’s Lady Cubs Varsity Basketball Squad played with heart, dedication, grit and determination. They never gave up and fought hard from starting buzzer to ending buzzer. The season is over, and as some Lady Cubs move on to softball and track, fans will remember this team of fighters. All-District Honors for the Lady Cubs include: Katelynn Bailey-1st Team All District, Abby Guerra-2nd Team All-District; Aubrey Daugherty-2nd Team All-District and Ellie Hinson-Honorable Mention All-District. All-District Academic Honors go to: Katelynn Bailey, Abby Guerra, Ellie Hinson, Emily Marquez, Joselyn Marquez, and Taaron Scrogum. Congratulations, Lady Cubs!

OJH science students shine at contest

On Saturday, Feb. 18, 35 Olney Junior High School students competed in City View at a state-qualifying meet for the Texas Math & Science Coaches Association. Students can qualify by earning a predetermined score on any or all of four contests: Number Sense, Calculator Applications, Mathematics, and Science. OJH had 22 students qualify at this first meet. Students will have two more opportunities to qualify before the state meet on April 1.
