OHS debate students compete at State

Over spring break on March 13 and 14, Olney Cross-Examination, or CX, Debate teams traveled to Austin to compete at the State Qualifier Competition. Allie Barrington and Adelade Edgington alongside Rodolfo Arce and Aidyn Bitner competed in a long four rounds starting at 8:00 am and wrapping up around 8:00 pm. Both teams represented Olney extremely well, Rodolfo and Aidyn advanced to finals that took place on March 14th. They ended up placing in the top 8 teams in Texas. OHS is very proud of each of these young adults and looks forward to seeing their future successes!

OHS Cub Basketball Players Receive District Honors

The Olney Cubs basketball season has ended and District Honors have been released. Cub honors go to: Newcomer of the Year-#5 Kennan Daughtery, First Team All-District-#20 Luis Castillo, Second Team All-District-#4 Tavon Scrogum, Fighting Heart-#10 Cyler Sosa and honorable mentions for#23 Noah Enriquez, #15 Cooper Lane, #0 Gatlin Guy, #2 Brady Lisle and #22 Jovani Rockmore. Academic All-District Honors go to: #4 Tavon Scrogum, #0 Gatlin Guy, #15 Cooper Lane, #11 Jose Castillo and #1 Jacob Hernandez. Coach for the Olney Cubs BB Squad Dylan Ballard said the Cubs fought hard this year and made great improvement. Congratulations Cubs!

OJH science, math team brings home top awards

The Olney Junior High School TMSCA [Texas Math and Science Coaches Association] Team represented well on Saturday, March 4 when they attended the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association Regional Meet in Azle. In this Regional meet, students were able to qualify for the state competition by earning a predetermined score, by placing as one of the top three individuals by classification by grade level, or by being on one of the top two teams on any or all of 4 contests: Number Sense, Calculator Applications, Mathematics, and Science.
