Women may need financial catch-up
It’s unfortunate but true: If you’re a woman, you face more obstacles than men in achieving financial security. And that means you may well need to put in some extra effort.

I was recently looking through Friends’ Facebook stories and saw a meme from my friend, Kevin Keene that hit home. It simply said, “the world is changed by your actions and not your opinions.”
I’m writing this article Monday after a restful weekend. Last week, I finished the majority of the newspaper before the end of the week, which allowed me to enjoy two full days off this weekend. For the first time in months, I did not do anything work-related on Saturday or Sunday, and I thoroughly enjoyed doing nothing for two days.
Frosty-breath weather kept most of us snuggled up inside last week and the center closed for three days, but Friday’s thaw saw several brave the chill and make it to eat and play 42. We were all happy to get out from being cooped up and to see friendly faces. I’m pretty sure that won’t be the last winter blast we have this March and April; I’ve seen deep snow before in mid-April. Just keep your coats, sweaters, and jackets handy for whatever comes next.
My firstborn child just turned 17. She’s standing on the edge of a future that will draw her out into this big world, and in so many ways, I know that she can’t wait to get started. I’m excited to see where she goes, who she meets, and what God does in her young life in the future. Chances are good that she will fall in love with someone sooner rather than later.
