Olney Hamilton Hospital (OHH) representatives are excited to move forward in 2021 now that the residents have supported the tax cap initiative on the recent ballot. OHH administrator praised the widespread community support that will “keep the hospital healthy for another 100 years, help to fund patient care, and ensure future access to capital.”

The diner reopened as the “Sassy Heifer” on Monday, Sept. 21. “Before it reopened we wanted to come in and remodel it, give it a face lift, and just make it different so that when people came back they knew that it was a different atmosphere,” said Tatum Wiley. Wiley stated that she wants customers to know that it is not just a family diner feel, but that they want outsiders to come in as well.
When Cole Phillips was a nine-year-old boy, he dreamed of having a slide in Newcastle Park. He put action behind his dream by raising money for more than two years to fund “The Cole Project” along with then-mayor Gina Maxwell, Olney Advocate Publisher, Kurt McCord and others. Newcastle and the surrounding communities contributed more than $23,000 to make Phillips’ dream a reality for the 2016 “Christmas in the Park” event. During the event, they unveiled a monument with the names of people who donated to the project. Also, a special memorial and dedication plaque was made to honor McCord, who died before seeing the project’s completion.
