Grand Avenue A in Olney, has certainly lived up to its name according to many of its patrons who have stated that Fringe Salon has proven to be unconventional when it comes to the overall atmosphere of a typical salon. When you walk into the shop, you’re greeted with a warm welcome by all stylists on duty—not just your stylist. It is a family-friendly environment “fringed” with an undeniable level of professionalism.

First Annual Jingle & Mingle Event

On Dec. 5 Keep Olney Beautiful (K.O.B.) hosted its first annual Jingle and Mingle event. Due to Covid-19 this year, the usual Tour of Homes event was cancelled. In its place, K.O.B. decided to start a new, covid-friendly, event held outdoors. The event started at the Olney Country Club and participants and their families could walk down the road and enjoy the Christmas lights. Other activities included in this event were a hayride and photo booths. There were hot chocolate stands and the option to purchase miscellaneous treats and glow sticks as well.

Tuesday, Dec. 8 saw a debate between state congressman Drew Springer and former school teacher and salon owner Shelley Luther. Both candidates began the evening with opening monologues, starting with Shelley Luther. Luther discussed the importance of public school reform, the potential reduction of property taxes, taking care of our veterans, and standing up to the establishment.
