Old Jail public restroom project advances Young County Commissioners voted unanimously at their March 9 meeting to authorize engineering plans for renovations to the county’s century-old jail building on the courthouse square. The plan would convert the building’s ground floor into public restrooms to serve events and visitors downtown.
Cubs, Bobcats Compete at Munday Relays
The Olney Lady Cubs captured first place overall in the girls’ division at the annual Munday Relays, while the Olney Cubs boys team finished third, highlighting a strong day on the track and in the field for Olney athletes. Competitors from Olney High School and Newcastle High School traveled to Munday for the meet and returned with numerous top finishes and personal bests.
Cubs Football Lands in New Division Under UIL Realignment
The Olney Cubs will face a new slate of district opponents this fall after the University Interscholastic League released its biennial district realignment.
OPD Applies for Federal Grants
The Olney City Council on Feb. 24 approved a grant application that would allow the Olney Police Department to upgrade and synchronize its body cameras, in-car video systems, and Tasers — at no cost to the city.
