OJH science students shine at contest

On Saturday, Feb. 18, 35 Olney Junior High School students competed in City View at a state-qualifying meet for the Texas Math & Science Coaches Association. Students can qualify by earning a predetermined score on any or all of four contests: Number Sense, Calculator Applications, Mathematics, and Science. OJH had 22 students qualify at this first meet. Students will have two more opportunities to qualify before the state meet on April 1.

My name is (Coach) James King and this is my first year back in Newcastle coaching the boys’ basketball program. I served my first stint coaching boys and girls here from 2013-2018. In the summer of 2018, my family and I moved to Jayton, Texas, and took on a lesser workload so that I could invest more time in my family. We served in Jayton for four years and gained some very valuable experience during that time.
