The Pursuit of Holiness

Beloved Christian, May God’s grace, by which He saved us through faith, abound in our lives to such an extent that we, like the saints of old, pursue holiness at any cost. We are called to be ambassadors of truth and representatives of God Himself to a world in need. With this in mind, we must recognize that sin is crouching at our door, intent on destroying the testimony of the transformative work of the Holy Spirit, which has led us to place our faith and trust in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Beauty of Old Paths

I spent the week with my family in the desert of the Trans-Pecos, a ruggedly beautiful part of far west Texas. Paisano Baptist Encampment was founded in July of 1915, and in August of the following year, George Truett, renowned pastor of First Baptist Dallas, preached the first camp sermon standing in the back of a wooden wagon. The history of the camp is long and interesting. Many great pastors, hymn writers, and musicians are a part of the story, along with thousands of regular Christian families who have walked the dusty pathways of what can only be described as a spiritual sanctuary in the middle of a dry, cactus-filled landscape.

The Power of God

Beloved of God, May the grace of our Lord, through the powerful and effectual working of the Holy Spirit, keep our hearts steadfast in Christ—especially in seasons of weakness and trial. Though our emotions may waver, our standing in Christ remains firm. We have been justified by faith, and through the death and resurrection of our Savior, we now possess peace with God and are anchored securely in His grace.
