As a mom of two daughters, ages 14 and 12, I struggle with trying to understand their emotional breakdowns, hyper-activity, their highs and lows and their strange hobbies. I often wonder if I was this tough to understand at their age.

You may remember I have previously written about my love for cooking and the special tie it has with my Mom. One of my favorite dishes she made very well was Chicken and Dumplings. I refer to them as chicky dumplens.
I must confess! I have stood on my soapbox proclaiming the importance of completing the 2020 census that the U.S. Government mandates every 10 years. I have written articles, posted reminders and harassed family and friends. Guess who forgot to complete the census? I DID.
Today, as I sit in my chair, the calendar says it is April 1, 2020. We are encouraged to stay home, practice social distancing, do “take out” food only, at least until the end of April. It is very quiet out. There’s not much traffic along the roads. Why? There is a world-wide pandemic caused by the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). It is probably the most contagious illness since the 1918 Spanish flu.
The COVID-19 pandemic has unsettled the country’s employment picture for months and will likely continue to do so for a while. However, the nature and terminology of this disruption varies greatly among individuals – some have seen their jobs disappear, others have been “furloughed” and still others have been offered an early retirement. If you’re in this final group – those either offered, or feeling forced to accept, an early retirement, how should you respond?
