The Transformative Work of God
“In Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ” Colossians 2:11 NASB What a precious truth it is to know that Scripture clearly teaches true religion is not external but internal—wrought in the heart by the powerful work of the Holy Spirit. It is He who brings about real and lasting transformation in the soul of the one whom God is saving, changing them from the inside out. As described in Colossians 2, this divine work softens hearts once hardened by sin, awakening spiritual sensitivity and conviction. The Holy Spirit brings the law to bear upon the heart, exposing hidden sin and revealing our deep need for a Savior. Through this gracious wounding, He prepares the soul to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Redeemer.
