Over the years our mother recorded stories about her and her family member’s lives. In 2014 she self-published her life story with the help of her cousin, Norma Sneed. Much of the following information is her own words.
Olney-Frank E. Butler, Jr., age 89, passed away June 13, 2020 in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney with Father Eugene Nyong of St. Theresa Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Windthorst, Texas under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney, Texas.
Olney-Raymond Wayne Reid, age 72, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020 in Graham, Texas. No Services are planned at this time.
Lynn Ann Thomas passed away Wednesday June 3, 2020 in Wichita Falls. Lynn Ann was born in Olney, Texas on May 18, 1953. Her parents were Russel and Edith Bankhead. She graduated from Olney High School. Though she lived in other places, Olney was always her home. Lynn loved to play the piano and at the age of 40 enrolled at MSU and earned a degree in music with emphasis on piano performance. After graduation Lynn worked in the music department as adjunct faculty. She was accompanist to four choirs and many individuals. As much as she enjoyed these challenges she loved playing hymns in church. Her other passion was giving a voice to the dogs who were chained or otherwise left in the cold. She wrote many letters to the editor every winter. She was preceded in death by her parents and survived by her husband, George. There are no services planned at this time. Bill Stephens, age 80, died Sunday, May 31, 2020 at his home in Newcastle, Texas. Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2020, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Frankie Bailey, officiating, assisted by Justin Gulley.
