The House of Mercy Enterprises (HOME) celebrated its 8th Annual Gala on Friday, Sept. 19, at the Olney Civic Center, drawing a large crowd of supporters for an evening of testimony, fellowship, and fundraising.
Texas Sen. Brent Hagenbuch made his first visit to Olney since his election last year, drawing a standing-room-only crowd at the Olney Heritage Museum for a town hall meeting. Sen. Hagenbuch, who represents District 30 following the retirement of former Sen. Drew Springer, was welcomed by a cross-section of local leaders, business owners, and residents eager to share concerns about issues closer to home.
The March for Jesus starts at Tommy Perkin’s Park and ends at the First Baptist Church for a program of music and a special message by FBCO Youth Minister, Jaden Brisco.

The Olney City Council voted Sept. 8 to table the sale of a foreclosed lot after questions arose about the city’s requirements for prospective buyers. The debate, which centered on whether bidders must commit to building on a property within a year, revealed confusion over rules that have frustrated both council members and business owners.
