Olney City Council Feb. 24 meeting

The City Council of Olney, Texas held its last meeting of the month this past Monday, Feb. 24. The meeting began with a long discussion about the considered proposal by Texas Communities Group for Code Enforcement Services. discussing the details of the proposal and deciding to have further discussion in an upcoming meeting, given that they would have required the council to sign a contract service agreement to move it forward. The council decided to get more information in the upcoming weeks.

Hospitality is not homebound

Hospitality has been a major buzz word in Christian circles for a few years now. Some excellent books have been written about the importance of rediscovering the lost art of welcoming people into your home. I have attended more than one women’s conference where sessions were geared toward already overloaded and guilt-ridden women like myself, with certain questions posed by women who are obviously passionate about their homes, and about things like hosting themed parties: “Do you often host people in your home?” “If not, why not?” “Did you know that the Bible clearly tells us to open our homes to others?” Clearly there has been a push among women’s ministry circles to more carefully consider the idea of hospitality and what it can look like in our own homes.

The Olney Chamber: 95th Annual Olney Chamber of Commerce Banquet has moved to Saturday, March 21. Olney Chanmber Director Stacy Wade said they haven’t had the banquet on Saturday for many years, but they decided to move it back to Saturday this year to see how things go.
