Many leaders and pastors in the Olney community have been spending extra time praying for individuals and families who have been facing adversities, especially those associated with the Coronavirus. With so much chaos in our personal lives, we sometimes forget about the challenges some of the local businesses may face in their day-to-day operations.

On Aug. 17, Charles “Tuna” Sheppard signed a lease with the Olney Housing Authority and received the key to his first apartment, ever. Sheppard has spent more than 35 years working for and traveling with the carnival. Growing older and learning to live with some health problems, Sheppard learned of House of Mercy Enterprises from a friend who worked in the same carnival circuit. He also learned to read, using his Bible as his textbook, during his time at H.O.M.E. Sheppard will be the twentieth graduate in our young ministry.
Rep. Drew Springer (TX-District 68) hosted a last-minute town hall meeting at Olney Heritage Museum Saturday Aug. 28 to announce his bid for Texas Senate. Springer encouraged everyone to vote in the special election early. Early voting begins Sept. 14 for the Sept. 29 Special Election.
