State Rep. David Spiller has filed two bills to restrict certain foreign entities from acquiring real estate in Texas, an issue that lawmakers have made a priority for the 89th Legislative Session that begins in January.
The Olney City Council discussed plans for swearing in newly elected Councilmember Steven Nurre, who has been hospitalized in Dallas following a serious car accident. Nurre won the open council seat in the Nov. 5 election, but his recovery may delay his physical attendance at council meetings.
City crews demolished the 1950s-era concession stand at the old municipal swimming pool site at Tom Griffin Park on Nov. 7 and will soon tear out the pool and fill it in, Public Works Director Michael Jacoba said.
As the Dec. 31 deadline to allocate federal COVID-19 relief funds approaches, the Olney City Council prioritized the purchase of new police vehicles during its Nov. 12 meeting. The Council is awaiting final bids required by law before moving forward.
